Grave Matters: Excavating California's Buried Past
Retired Professor Tony Platt's son Daniel lived and died in Chico. Before his death Daniel requested a "Viking funeral". When Professor Platt scattered his son's ashes into the ocean he took a close look at the area where the family had had a cabin on the coast. The result is his latest book Grave Matters which is a history of the treatment of Native American remains in California.

Philosophy professor Troy Jollimore won the National Book Critics Circle Award for this first collections of poems, Tom Thomson in Purgatory, and Tom reappears in some of the poems in this latest collection At Lake Scugog. The San Francisco Chronicle says, "Poetry is often either funny or good, but the poetry of Troy Jollimore is both."
