Two busy Chico mom have writtten cookbooks with a different emphasis. Realtor Jodi Buda wants to encourage families to get back to the dinner table and enjoy a meal together. Physical trainer Sarah Fragoso shows families how they can follow a paleo (aka "caveman") diet without dairy, grains, or legumes. Both include recipes, but Sarah also includes exercises in her book as part of the paleo lifestyle.

Loyal McCammond had always wanted to go on a long trail ride, and when he met Bert with the same dream, the two "old codgers" set out on horseback with three pack mules to ride from Paradise, California to Glenns Ferry, Idaho. They crossed parts of four states and reached their destination in 27 days.

Friendship Bread
Darien Gee wrote two books under the pen name Mia King. In this her third novel, the author writes about the interwoven lives of several women in the fictional small town of Avalon, Illinois. Julia learns to cope with a personal tragedy after a gift of Amish Friendship Bread brings hope to her and her community.
